Empowering parents and caregivers to lead our communities

LEE helps people explore a run and launch successful political campaigns. This seminar is for parents and caregivers interested in running for office. At this 1-hour virtual session, we will:

  • Challenge myths that parents and caregivers face when exploring a run
  • Learn top 3 tips to establish a viable campaign
  • Connect with LEE members who are in similar shoes
  • Receive info about exclusive and free LEE benefits like coaching

America lacks policies that truly support parents and caregivers, and that’s partly because we are severely underrepresented at all levels of American politics. For instance, only 1% of Congress are moms of children under 6. For Congress to be truly representative, we need to elect 59 more moms with children under 18. We can change this story, and we invite you join us to connect, learn, and receive support for your next move.

She has worked on a variety of policy issues facing Vermonters, including early childhood education and renewable energy. Carolyn’s mother, Julie Peterson, was the first woman elected to serve her state legislative district in the 1980s and during Carolyn’s childhood she went on to serve as Chief of Staff to Vermont Governor Howard Dean. Carolyn lives in Montpelier Vermont with her husband and five year old daughter.

Holly Lim, Director of Civic Leadership Development at LEE | Facilitator

Holly is building a pipeline of diverse and equitable elected leaders. She was previously a political consultant for bold BIPOC candidates, with a 100% win rate for clients who progressed to their general election. She previously led programs and trainings at a national PAC with 1,500 potential candidates annually and contributed to hundreds of every-day people filing for candidacy in 2022-2023. Her academic research and publications focused on the leadership pathways, styles, and frameworks of women of color leaders (electeds, appointed leaders, organizers, and staffers) in the political field.
