About the Course

 

A foundational understanding of the policy process is critical to succeed in a policy, advocacy or organizing career. In this course you will:

  • Explore the four stages of the policy cycle: Agenda Setting, Policy Formation, Policy Implementation, and Policy Review
  • Understand how the policy cycle overlaps with the organizing cycle
  • Examine the critical role that values and liberatory consciousness play in the policy process

What to Expect

 

  • Learn examples of policy, advocacy and organizing roles at each stage of the policy process
  • Hear from fellow LEE members working in policy and advocacy about the values that guide their leadership as their work to dismantle systemic oppression.
  • Deepen your understanding of liberatory consciousness development and how it can show up in the policy process
  • Reflect on which stage of the policy process you’d like to work in and why
