House meetings are one of the most foundational skills for organizing. The modern house meeting was a crucial tool used during the United Farm Workers Movement, and many organizing traditions use this model today. This session will lead participants through what a house meeting is and how to conduct an effective house meeting so that you can continue to build your relational network in your region.

 

About the Course

 

How to Run a House Meeting is an interactive module for individuals who want to build their relational network, build a constituency, or to build power in a community. Whether you are interested in organizing, policy and advocacy, or electoral politics, this is a crucial tool to identify leaders and to understand what issues are impacting people in your community.

From the comfort of your computer, you will learn tips and strategies to begin to conduct your own house meetings. In this course you will:

  1. Understand what a house meeting is and the history behind them
  2. Identify key elements of a house meeting
  3. Know how a house meeting can build power and action
  4. Organize and facilitate a house meeting
