The Introduction to Policy and Advocacy Careers Workshop is a virtual program that aims to demystify policy and advocacy and prepare members to explore opportunities in their region. It consists of a series of self-paced modules or a 90-min live virtual event where members will get to hear from leaders in the field. Through this experience, you will:

  • Understand the varied roles and organizations that comprise the fields of policy and advocacy
  • Identify the type of role best suited to your goals and interests
  • Map your policy landscape and identify a local leader to job shadow

Following the workshop, LEE staff will also be available to provide follow up support and resources to participants.

Workshop Outcomes

  • Deepen your understanding of policy & career paths
  • Begin to discern which policy or advocacy career path is right for you
  • Connect with other LEE members at similar career stages
  • Learn about next steps you can take to pursue a career in policy or advocacy

Who Should Join

We encourage you to join if you are:

  • Interested in a career in policy, advocacy, or organizing but are not ready to actively apply for roles
  • Seeking to clarify your specific professional pathway within policy and advocacy
  • Thinking of applying for the Policy & Advocacy Summer Fellowship

Shoa is also the co-founder of It Takes A Village Collaborative, which provides individuals, families, and communities with wellness resources, services, and networks to empower them to reach their full potential.
