Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils

What are LA Neighborhood Councils?

LA’s 99 Neighborhood Councils connect communities to City Hall, giving Angelenos a voice in local government. Open to residents, workers, and community members, councils address key issues like housing, public safety, and parks. Members are volunteers elected to advocate for their neighborhoods and shape city policies. By attending meetings, voicing concerns, or running for a council seat, you can help make a difference in your community. Neighborhood Councils are your chance to engage, lead, and create meaningful change where you live.

Why You Should Join a Neighborhood Council

“Whether this is the only role in public life you ever want to have, or you have ambitions of something broader, [LANCs] are a great place to start.”
