Overview

Pursue policy change strategically and effectively to disrupt oppressive systems that perpetuate inequity.

A foundational understanding of the policy process is critical to succeed in a policy, advocacy or organizing career. In this course you will:

Explore the four stages of the policy cycle: Agenda Setting, Policy Formation, Policy Implementation, and Policy Review
Understand how the policy cycle overlaps with the organizing cycle
Examine the critical role that values and liberatory consciousness play in the policy process

Learn examples of policy, advocacy and organizing roles at each stage of the policy process
Hear from fellow LEE members working in policy and advocacy about the values that guide their leadership as their work to dismantle systemic oppression.
Deepen your understanding of liberatory consciousness development and how it can show up in the policy process
Reflect on which stage of the policy process you’d like to work in and why
