Why I’m a LEE Ambassador

My interest in serving as an Alumni Ambassador stems from my commitment to community. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, where the population is predominantly Hispanic. I come from a community that is under-resourced and underrepresented, giving personal meaning to my efforts as a civic leader. I have As a recipient of community resources, I appreciate and understand the impact of civic leadership. If I were to be selected as an Alumni Ambassador, I would commit myself to seeking and engaging with fellow alumni that also envision a community founded on representation and equality.

My past and current experiences have given me the skills needed to become a successful Alumni Ambassador. I work under a State Farm office, where I have strengthened my skills in customer service, outreach, sales and retention. I am capable of using my sales and service skills to recruit eligible alumni. I am familiar with the process of establishing professional relationships, understanding the other person’s goals and interests, and maintaining a consistent line of communication- all of which are skills that would strengthen my potential role as an Alumni Ambassador. Furthermore, my previous position as a Bilingual Volunteer Crisis Counselor fueled my commitment to supporting our communities. I volunteered under Crisis Text Line and was grateful to be part of a free and accessible resource for those in need. It truly showed me the importance and impact of equity.
